FAQs

Kashan, a historic city in central Iran, has a centuries-old tradition of carpet weaving dating back to the Safavid dynasty, renowned for producing some of the finest knotted textiles in the world.

These carpets typically feature high-quality wool pile hand-knotted onto a cotton foundation, often employing the asymmetric Persian knot to achieve fine detail and durability.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the knot density, hand-spun wool characteristics, natural dyes, signature central medallion designs, and the condition of the hand-finished fringes and selvages.

A large Persian carpet serves as a strong focal point in a contemporary room, grounding neutral furnishings and adding texture, warmth, and historic contrast to minimalist architectural spaces.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, professional washing by an expert in antique textiles every few years, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight.
