Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A suzani is a type of hand-embroidered tribal textile traditionally crafted in Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan. These textiles were historically produced by brides and their families as part of a marriage dowry, incorporating decorative motifs that represented fortune and protection.

Traditional suzanis are created using silk thread hand-embroidered onto narrow panels of cotton or silk ground fabric. These individual strips are worked separately before being stitched together to construct the full-sized panel.

Authentic 19th-century suzanis generally feature natural vegetable dyes, minor stitch irregularities, and visible seam lines where narrow fabric strips were joined. The reverse side often shows visible hand-stitching thread work rather than the uniform finish of machine production.

A suzani can be mounted onto a frame or suspended from a drapery rod to function as a focal wall hanging above a bed or sideboard. Alternatively, it can be draped across the foot of a bed or layered over upholstered seating to add pattern and texture.

To preserve natural dyes and fibre integrity, display the textile away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Cleaning should be limited to gentle dust removal using a low-suction vacuum filtered through a protective mesh screen, with specialist conservation recommended for deep cleaning.
