Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE 1930s:
Hand-knotted wool foundation: traditional nomadic loom construction.
Overcast wool selvedges: hand finishing along both long edges.
Colour shifts across the red ground: hand-dyed yarn prepared in small batches.
Gentle pile wear across the field: decades of domestic foot traffic.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Persian tribal rug dates from the early 20th century circa 1930 and is made from wool. The design includes three central lozenges, geometric borders, stylised flowerheads, and latch-hook motifs on a red field with green, orange, and black sections. Additional visual details visible on the piece include fringed ends at the top and bottom, vertical cream-coloured outer borders dotted with tiny multicoloured squares, and minor wear visible along the weave. The piece measures 130 cm high and 75 cm wide overall. In a modern interior, this rug can be placed on wooden flooring in a hallway or living room to add colour and texture to a space. It works well within a Glastonbury Boho decorative scheme and brings warmth to a domestic floor setting.

FAQs

Qashqai rugs are traditional hand-knotted textiles woven by nomadic tribes in southwestern Iran, renowned for their vibrant geometric patterns, bold central medallions, and expressive tribal motifs.

These carpets are hand-woven using locally sourced, hand-spun sheep wool for both the pile and the foundation, dyed with natural plant extracts that create deep, durable colours.

Authentic pieces feature a flexible wool foundation, subtle variations in motif symmetry due to nomadic handcrafting, multiple guard borders, and a saturated palette of madder red, navy, and green.

A geometric tribal carpet creates visual grounding and contrast when paired with contemporary minimalist furniture, neutral wooden floors, or layered within bohemian interior schemes.

Regular low-suction vacuuming without a rotary beater bar prevents fibre wear, whilst immediate spot-cleaning with neutral water solutions and periodic professional dry cleaning protect the wool pile.
