An elegant early 20th-century mahogany compactum. The gently bowed front is fitted with three panelled doors, each veneered in richly figured, book-matched flame mahogany, framed by moulded surrounds and enriched with carved foliate spandrels to the corners. The whole is surmounted by a pierced and scroll-carved cresting rail, while shaped bracket feet provide a stable and well-balanced base.Internally, the compactum is well configured for everyday use. One section offers full-height hanging space with a brass rail for coats and dresses, while the opposing compartment is fitted with adjustable shelving above a series of pull-out trays and two drawers with recessed brass handles.
