An early 20th-century barograph housed in a well-figured oak case with glazed panels and a fitted drawer to the base. The instrument features a finely engineered brass mechanism driven by a stacked aneroid capsule assembly, transferring atmospheric pressure changes through an articulated linkage to a recording arm. This arm traces continuous readings onto a rotating paper drum calibrated by day and hour, enabling precise long-term barometric observation.

Set on a stepped oak plinth, the barograph retains its original removable glass cover, brass fittings, recording drum, and ink reservoir. The brass base plate is stamped Short & Mason, London – Made in England, confirming manufacture by one of Britain’s foremost scientific instrument makers.
