This Georgian style mahogany partners desk dates from 1860 and presents a warm brown timber finish. The piece takes the form of a pedestal partner's desk with an inset leather top bordered by a simple banding and moulded fore-edge. The frieze incorporates three drawers, comprising one long drawer flanked by two shorter ones. The right pedestal contains a bank of three drawers opposite a cupboard, and the structure rests on an enclosed mahogany plinth with a raised section beneath and original castors. Cast brass circular handles with decorated back plates adorn the drawers, and a single brass knob handle is fitted to the cupboard door. Measuring 84 cm high, 153 cm wide, and 105 cm deep, this desk suits placement in a gentleman's library or home study as a functional workspace. The configuration provides dual-sided access with drawers and cupboards on both the front and back for daily administrative tasks, correspondence, or computer work.

A partners desk is a large, double-sided writing desk designed in 18th-century Britain to allow two people to work facing each other comfortably. Originally created for banking and legal executives, these desks feature usable drawers or cupboards on both working sides.

Georgian style partners desks were typically constructed from solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, featuring inset leather writing surfaces on top. Hardware traditionally consists of cast brass drawer pulls, turned knobs, or swan-neck handles.

Period pieces exhibit hand-dovetailed drawer joints, original brass locks, and natural wear or patination on the timber and leather inset. Additionally, traditional partners desks break down into three distinct sectionstwo pedestals and a top frameto facilitate transport.

Place the desk centrally in a home office or study rather than against a wall, allowing full access to both sides. Pair it with a modern leather office chair, clean-lined brass task lighting, and minimal desktop accessories to balance classic proportions with contemporary functionality.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain. Clean the leather inset using a damp cloth and treat it with a specialist leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.
