Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Copper measures were standard liquid capacity vessels used in commercial establishments like taverns, pubs, and markets, as well as domestic kitchens, to quantify liquids such as ale, spirits, milk, or oil.

Traditional copper measures were formed from sheet copper, folded and joined along a brazed or dovetailed seam. Handles were typically formed from copper straps or cast metal, secured with rivets or solder, and finished with a reinforced rim.

Authentic examples often display visible hand-brazed or dovetailed seams, copper rivet attachments, and capacity verification stamps or imperial marks struck into the metal rim. Evidence of hand-hammering and natural surface oxidisation also indicate genuine period construction.

To preserve the natural patina, wipe the metal with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners. If a polished finish is preferred, apply a specialised non-abrasive metal polish sparingly and dry the surface thoroughly to prevent water staining.

Graduated copper measures work well when styled in groupings on open kitchen shelving, dressers, or sideboard surfaces. Their warm metallic finish provides texture and contrast against stone, painted joinery, or natural timber backdrops.
