Description

An elegant late 18th-century George III mahogany chest of drawers of classic proportion and fine colour. The arrangement comprises two short drawers over three long drawers, each fitted with brass swan-neck handles and diamond-shaped escutcheons, two of which are later replacements. The chest stands on shaped bracket feet and displays a warm, rich patina throughout.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places, including age-related marks and scratches across the piece. There is a split to one side, as well as staining and dents to the surface. One corner shows a small area of loss (pictured). Two of the diamond-shaped escutcheons are later replacements. All drawers run smoothly, and the piece is solid and sound — overall, a handsome example.
