This FINE REGENCY MAHOGANY DAVENPORT, of slim proportions and raised on castors, dates from circa 1820. Having a polished back, the Davenport is free-standing and can be viewed from all angles.It has a sliding top, which works smoothly, enabling the writer to place their chair beneath, and a folding pen and ink drawer to the side holding two glass inkwells. With very well-graduated drawers to one side and dummy drawer fronts to the other, the Davenport has an unusual polished slide, disguised as the first drawer.
