Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This Edwardian bureau bookcase dates from 1910 and is made from warm mahogany with satinwood inlay, glass, and brass hardware. The upper section comprises glazed double doors with geometric astragal framing, topped by a traditional moulded cornice. Below, a slanted fall-front slope displays a central oval shell marquetry inlay motif, opening to reveal an interior workspace, while the lower portion contains four graduated long drawers fitted with antique-style swan-neck metal handles and supported by bracket feet. Signs of age and wear are visible across the timber surfaces. The piece measures 194 cm high, 91 cm wide, and 42 cm deep, with a total depth of 71 cm when the flap is folded down. In a modern home, this practical writing cabinet and display unit integrates into a study, drawing room, or hallway to provide functional storage and workspace.

Popularised during the early twentieth century, an Edwardian bureau bookcase combines a slant-front writing desk with an upper glazed display cabinet, often featuring lighter proportions and refined marquetry compared to earlier Victorian designs.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from mahogany and accented with satinwood or boxwood line stringing, decorative glass astragal glazing bars, and cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail jointing on drawer boxes, delicate geometric line inlay, original brass drop handles, and smooth patina across writing surfaces and drawer runners.

Position the piece in a study, hallway, or living room, styling the upper cabinet with art books and ceramics while employing the fall-front writing slope as a compact home workstation.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and applying beeswax twice yearly, keeping the furniture away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid wood movement or veneer lifting.
