Copper jelly and pudding moulds gained popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in affluent European households, where elaborate, moulded dishes demonstrated culinary skill and social status.

Authentic period pieces were typically hand-beaten or raised from a single sheet of copper, often featuring dovetailed or brazed seams, and sometimes lined with tin to prevent food toxicity.

Authenticity is indicated by heavy gauge metal, hand-beaten hammer marks, dovetailed or seam construction, and characteristic tinned interiors, alongside age-related patina and wear.

These pieces can be displayed grouped on a kitchen dresser, mounted on walls as textural elements, or used as rustic planters to introduce warmth and heritage to contemporary spaces.

Preservation involves maintaining the natural oxidation or gently cleaning with a mild, non-abrasive copper cleaner if a bright finish is desired, avoiding harsh scrubbing that damages the historical surface.
