Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

French antique beds are characterised by elegant curved lines, hand-carved wooden details, and often feature upholstered headboards and footboards reflecting classical periods such as Louis XV or Louis XVI.

These beds are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as beech or walnut, featuring traditional joinery, hand-carved ornamentation, and applied finishes such as gilt or original painted patinas.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved rather than moulded details, traditional joinery methods, period-appropriate hardware, and natural wear and ageing in the original paintwork or gilding.

An antique French bed serves as a striking focal point in a contemporary bedroom when paired with neutral linen bedding, minimalist lighting, and contrasting modern architectural elements to balance the ornate woodwork.

Preservation involves dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent paint fading, and keeping the item in a room with stable temperature and humidity levels to protect the wood and upholstery.
