Description

There is a long tradition of kilim weaving in the Balkans. Designs and techniques often have a charming synthesis of local folk and eastern ornamentation. This pretty wool kilim has very good decorative credentials. It is finely woven with a very restrained repeating floral pattern in a soft range of colours. The pale grey background is particularly unusual and attractive. The scattered bouquets in the field give a sense of lightness and space, and is complemented well by the delightful meandering floral border. In generally good condition. One could imagine this piece working in all types of decorative settings.
