This miniature bow-front chest of drawers dates from the late 19th century in the Regency style. The piece uses warm brown amboyna and burr veneer timber, complemented by inlaid kingwood and boxwood crossbanded borders. Details include three graduated drawers fitted with small turned wooden knobs, banded drawer fronts, and short bracket feet with an arched apron beneath the lowest drawer. The dimensions measure 20 cm high, 18 cm wide, and 14 cm deep. In a modern interior, this compact item functions well as decorative storage placed on a sideboard top, desk, or chest of drawers. The piece suits collectors of miniature furniture and small decorative antiques, adding traditional design elements to compact display areas.

Miniature chests of drawers were historically produced either as cabinetmakers apprentice demonstration models, travelling salesman sample pieces, or functional tabletop storage for jewellery and small valuables.

High-grade decorative veneers such as amboyna, walnut, or mahogany were applied over solid timber carcases, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, turned wooden or brass handles, and crossbanded borders.

Authentic nineteenth-century miniature furniture displays evidence of historical hand tools, hand-cut dovetail joinery, natural timber shrinkage around inlay lines, and genuine wear on drawer runners.

These compact decorative items function well positioned atop a sideboard, desk, or bookcase to store small items while introducing historical texture into a room scheme.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a neutral beeswax polish periodically, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight.
