A torba is a small, wide bag traditionally woven by the Tekke Turkmen tribe of Central Asia, used primarily for domestic storage within a yurt.

Traditional pieces are constructed from hand-spun wool with asymmetrical knots, occasionally incorporating silk highlights, and dyed using natural madder for the dominant red tones.

Authenticity is determined by examining the fineness of the knotting, structural characteristics such as the weave and selvages, natural colour variations, and the precise execution of traditional gul motifs.

Due to its compact size and striking graphic pattern, a torba is frequently displayed as a wall hanging or placed on a surface as a textile accent to add warmth and history to a space.

Preservation requires keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, avoiding heavy foot traffic if used on a floor, and periodically vacuuming with low suction through a protective mesh screen.
