Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Seh Mihrab prayer rug is a traditional Afghan tribal textile featuring a three-niche architectural design inside the main field. The word mihrab refers to the prayer niche pointing towards Mecca, and seh denotes the triple arch pattern, characteristic of specific village weaving traditions in northern and western Afghanistan.

These rugs are hand-knotted on wool warps and wefts using hand-spun sheeps wool. The rich plum, dark brown, indigo, and ochre dyes are historically derived from natural vegetable and mineral sources, woven tightly on small horizontal looms by village or nomadic weavers.

Authentic pieces from the 1920s display natural dye variation (abrash), supple wool foundations, and geometric tribal motifs rather than factory-perfect precision. Examination of the back reveals hand-tied asymmetric or symmetric knots with kilim flat-woven ends and bound side selvedges.

A small tribal prayer rug serves as an accent textile placed over timber flooring, layered on larger natural-fibre rugs, or mounted on walls as textural artwork. The deep tones of plum, terracotta, and indigo complement minimalist, dark academia, or bohemian interior schemes.

Vacuum gently without a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling hand-bound wool fibres. Rotate the rug annually to distribute foot traffic evenly, protect from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent dye fading, and use a specialist rug underlay on smooth floors.
