A fine quality and early example of an Irish Georgian figured mahogany antique knee hole desk. The desk has a quarter veneered top finished with feather banded and cross banded edge and a central knee hole cupboard door which is beautifully and crisply carved with a shell in relief with a blind fret work door frame. The desk has one long top drawer and three graduating cockbeaded drawers either side to the pedestals which are also veneered in figured mahogany matching the top. The drawers are oak lined and all come with working locks.At some time the drawers had later wooden knobs fitted which have been taken off and replaced with brass handles in keeping with the original markings on the drawers.
