Country House and Eastern Interiors has dated this Antique Khamseh Tribal Carpet to the 1890s.
This is an opportunity for someone to purchase this extremely rare and unique khamseh kelleh carpet.
Made for a tribal khan or elevated purpose perhaps for an audience or to an entrance or similar. It is most certainly made for a special purpose in mind.

Why do we know this ?
As you have probably gathered from the images the design is woven sideways on as in images 1 and 2.

The overall design is full of tribal motifs including a myriad of peacocks with geometric fan tails and plumes to the head. Pecking chickens with three central hooked medallions.
Curiously in the ivory coloured corner spandrels the top left one is woven with most of the birds upside down further adding to its charm and appeal.

The pile is all over low with light wear and an old repair to the top edge not that noticeable from the front. All imaged.
So it isn't in a1 overall condition and is priced accordingly thus.
Hand washed and de-dusted. All ends and sides are secure.

Size is 11 foot 4 inches X 4 foot 9 inches. 346cm X 145cm. At widest points. Fringes not measured in size. All woollen hand knotted construction.
If you are looking for a tribal weaving to decorate your home with that is certainly unique in its appearance. I doubt you will come across another in a hurry. I haven't seen one in 25 years of dealing carpets and rugs.
Priced accordingly £3850 gbp. Which is the price you would pay for a good qashqai/khamseh anyway minus the unique sideways appearance.
Bank transfers,viewings,discussions,etc all welcomed.
