Marble should be cleaned using warm water and a soft microfibre cloth, strictly avoiding acidic solutions, harsh chemical detergents, or abrasive pads that can etch or dull the polished stone surface.

Pairing a highly ornate historical mantel with minimalist walls, neutral plaster finishes, and contemporary artwork creates a sophisticated architectural contrast that grounds modern living spaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved tool marks, natural weathering, historic patination in the stone, and traditional assembly methods such as iron dowels or plaster keys rather than modern adhesives.

These surrounds were typically carved from high-quality natural stones such as Carrara and statuary marble, frequently accented with gilt bronze, ormolu, or cast brass mounts to highlight the architectural details.

The Louis XVI style emerged in France during the 18th century as a reaction against Rococo excess, favouring neoclassical symmetry, straight lines, classical orders, and motifs derived from ancient Greek and Roman archaeology.
