FAQs

Regency design, spanning the late 18th to early 19th centuries, is characterised by classical symmetry, architectural motifs, and refined ornamentation influenced by ancient Greek and Roman art.

Authentic period fenders were predominantly fabricated from heavy-gauge cast and sheet brass, frequently featuring hand-pierced fretwork designs and robust iron internal reinforcement bars.

Authenticity is typically determined by the presence of hand-cut piercing, uneven patination, heavy metal weight, hand-filed joints, and period-appropriate assembly techniques such as brazing or dovetailed corners.

A polished or aged brass fender adds metallic warmth and classical texture to a hearth, serving as a sophisticated focal point in both minimalist modern spaces and traditional room schemes.

Preservation requires gentle dusting and occasional cleaning with a non-abrasive metal cleaner to remove debris, while preserving the natural oxidisation and historical patina developed over time.
