Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The bureau bookcase evolved during the late 17th and 18th centuries, combining a sloping writing desk with a shelved cabinet top to accommodate both correspondence and a growing collection of books.

Traditional pieces are typically constructed using fine hardwoods like mahogany or satinwood, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, brass hardware, and intricate wood veneers or stringing.

Authenticity is assessed by examining construction marks such as hand-cut dovetails, older glass panes with imperfections or bubbles, hand-forged or cast brass fittings, and natural timber ageing and oxidisation.

An antique bureau bookcase works well as a focal point in a study or living space, paired with contemporary minimalist seating to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Preserve antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate natural waxes rather than modern silicone polishes.
