A Yorkshire Landscape Signed Original Early 20th-Century Watercolour Painting

Brief Description:

This is a marvellous Original Landscape Watercolour Painting depicting a rural hamlet in Yorkshire, with an ancient stone river bridge, period cottages, woodlands, and tall rolling hills in the distance.

The painting dates to the late 19th/early 20th century and it is signed indistinctly in the lower left corner.

The artist has captured the mood and the scene perfectly. His/her portrayal of the moody skyline and architecture is something to behold.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

British watercolour landscapes from the early 20th century typically portray rural topography, utilizing delicate washes and natural light to capture atmospheric countryside views.

Artists executed these works using ground water-soluble pigments on heavy cotton paper, frequently presented in gessoed giltwood or composite frames sealed under glass.

Authentic period watercolours feature subtle natural paper oxidation, era-consistent artist signatures, classical mounting techniques, and historic wood or gilt framing.

Hang the artwork above a fireplace mantelpiece, position it within a gallery wall grouping, or lean it on a console table to introduce warm tones and period depth.

Keep watercolour artworks away from direct sunlight and humid areas to prevent pigment fading and paper foxing, dusting the glass frame gently with a dry cloth.
