Georgian fire tools typically feature classical proportions, balanced symmetry, and refined ornamentation such as urn finials and turned shafts, reflecting the neoclassical design influences of the 18th century.

These sets were traditionally forged from steel for strength and durability at the working ends, combined with cast or hand-chased brass for decorative handles and finials.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-forged construction marks, traditional joinery methods like pinned assemblies, period-appropriate patination, and wear consistent with age rather than artificial ageing.

Position them neatly beside an active fireplace or within a hearth alcove to add textural contrast, historic character, and a functional focal point to the room.

Clean surfaces gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, avoiding abrasive polishes that strip historical patination, and apply a microcrystalline wax to steel components to prevent oxidation.
