Kazak rugs are hand-knotted wool carpets traditionally woven by various tribal groups in the Caucasus region, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries, known for their bold geometric motifs and saturated primary colours.

Authentic pieces are constructed entirely from hand-spun wool for the pile, warp, and weft, often utilizing natural vegetable dyes derived from roots, insects, and plants to achieve their distinctive coloration.

Authentication involves examining the hand-knotted pile for natural dye variations, irregularities in the geometric symmetry, wool quality, and the specific structural characteristics of the foundation weave.

These textiles add warmth and textural contrast to contemporary minimalist or industrial spaces, grounding neutral furniture arrangements with rich historical colour and pattern.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, professional specialist cleaning when necessary, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight to protect the natural dyes.
