The carpet probably originates from the area around Farah or Chakhansur, in Western Afghanistan near the borders with eastern Persia; and has some Taimani influence. The carpet is woven in shades of madder red, light and dark indigo blue, olive brown and ivory; the overall colour palette is warm and soft. The main border is of a repeat diamond design with very well drawn reciprocal rams horn inner and outer guards.
