Size: 6ft 3in x 4ft 11in (190 x 149cm).

Antique South West Persian Khamseh tribal bird 'morgh' rug of linked medallion design.

Circa 1900.

A classic example of a Khamseh ‘bird’ rug, traditionally this is known as the 'morgh' design; it features birds, usually chickens with their heads down pecking at the ground. this example has two linked medallions on an indigo blue field filled with birds and and totemic devices. The rug is beautifully drawn with every possible part covered with birds and tribal design elements. Note how the lower outer border is of a chevron design, while the other borders are all floral.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight wear and medium pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
