Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Brass beds gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, largely replacing wooden frames as sanitation became a primary focus in domestic interiors. Metal beds were considered more hygienic and easier to clean than wood.

Authentic period pieces typically feature heavy-gauge brass tubing fitted over iron cores for structural integrity, joined with cast brass ornamentation and securely threaded components.

Authentic pieces often show natural patination, heavier weight due to iron internal supports, hand-finished castings, and minor signs of age-related wear on the metal surfaces.

A brass bed serves as a strong focal point and pairs well with neutral linen bedding, contrasting dark walls, or minimalist surroundings to balance its ornate metallic presence.

Maintain brass by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can strip the protective lacquer or damage the natural ageing patina.
