Antique Yomut Turkmen asmalyk with lattice design.
 
Circa 1880.
 
This good example of a Yomut Turkmen asmalyk with an ivory ground and a lattice design which contains the erre gul; the range of colours are a soft palette of reds and blues. The asmalyk retains its original long decorative tassels.
 
Asmalyk were used to decorate the flanks of the camels in the Yomut Turkmen wedding procession, they usually formed part of the brides dowry and were woven in pairs.
 
The asmalyk is in original condition with very slight even wear and full pile.
