Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A painted pine sideboard from the early 20th century is a freestanding timber storage cabinet designed for domestic kitchens and sculleries. These utilitarian pieces were built with multiple cupboards and drawers to house cookware, dry goods, and table linens.

These sideboards were primarily constructed from solid European pine or yellow pine, joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon and dovetail woodworking techniques. Surfaces were often painted or scrubbed, and hardware typically consisted of simple iron, brass, or turned wooden handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of period construction, such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer joints, thick timber backboards, and natural surface wear around working edges. Layered paint finishes, historical locks, and iron or brass fittings also indicate period origins.

A painted sideboard functions well in a contemporary dining room, open-plan kitchen, or hallway. The top surface provides space for table lamps, ceramics, or artwork, while the enclosed cabinetry offers concealed storage for modern household items.

Clean painted timber surfaces using a soft, dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemical solvents, keep the furniture away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement, and apply a neutral beeswax paste occasionally to protect matte paint finishes.
