Antique silver Moeris chronograph pocket watch, 1924.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, signed Moeris, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has two indentations.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1924, together with a sponsor’s mark for the gold and silver watch importer Walter Horace Thompson. The front and sides of the case are in good condition. The hinged case back has unevenness.

The dial looks good to the naked eye. There is an old repair on the edge of the dial but it is mostly covered by the bezel. Pin set hands. Two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other to record up to 30 minutes (when the chronograph feature is started, the hand on the 30 minute counter jumps backwards to 29 minutes but moves forward for each minute after that).

The chronograph is operated by pressing the winding crown once for start, again for stop, and again to flyback to zero.

The watch comes in an antique presentation box, a bit worn but nice to have.
