We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Fire surrounds featuring integrated mirrors gained popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, combining decorative woodwork with reflective glass to enhance light and spatial perception in domestic rooms.

These architectural features are typically constructed from dense softwoods like pine or hardwoods such as oak and mahogany, utilising mortise and tenon joinery alongside hand-carved or applied mouldings.

Authenticity is determined by examining construction marks, hand-bevelled mirror glass with natural oxidisation, original fixing points, and the natural ageing of the timber grain beneath surface finishes.

A period fire surround serves as a strong architectural focal point and can be balanced in modern spaces by pairing it with minimalist hearth accessories or contrasting contemporary artwork.

Preservation involves dusting with a dry, soft cloth and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or excessive moisture.
