This is an incredibly handsome pair of Fire Dogs dating from the Victorian period - reminiscent of Cathedral spires, the pair are attractive in their own right as a piece of sculpture!
Intended for use in a fireplace to hold the burning logs off the ground and allow air to circulate and aid the fire, they would have logs placed across them and can be used in any open hearth or inglenook fireplace.
They are of a good large size and are incredibly heavy being made from solid brass - personally i love their strong almost brutalist nature and could happily enjoy them as purely a decorative item!
Standing on arched legs, the Fire Dogs - also known as Andirons - stand 42cm tall.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if i can provide any further information or photographs.
