This walnut office desk comprises a traditional Queen Anne design, visible in the serpentine design, shell carvings, cabriole legs and use of fine walnut timbers. The top of the Queen Anne style desk retains its original inset brown leather, edged with decorative blind tooling, within a walnut cross-banded serpentine shaped frame. The front of the Queen Anne style desk comprises five working drawers, which are constructed with hand-dovetailed oak drawer linings and quarter bead internal mouldings. The drawer fronts retain the original working brass lever locks (with key) and the original pierced brass backplates, with swan neck handles. The drawer fronts are finished with fine decorative cock-beading detail, along with stunning looking figured walnut timbers. The drawer configuration, with one wide central drawer, flanked by two narrow drawers, allows for sufficient knee and leg space whilst sitting at the desk. The Queen Anne style desk stands on elegant cabriole legs, decorated with scroll and shell carvings at the knees, terminating on pad feet. This is a single piece desk, which is ideal for any home office, in either a contemporary or traditional setting. Also useful as a dressing table!

Condition Report:
This a fine quality antique Queen Anne style desk, with a serpentine design, constructed with lovely figured walnut, incorporating the original brown leather, circa 1930, in good original condition. The walnut desk has been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination are of an excellent standard. Nominal old use marks to the original leather top (see photo of leather top) and also the leading edges of the walnut desk frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The drawer fronts retain the original working brass lever locks (with key) and original pierced brass backplates with swan neck handles. This Queen Anne style desk is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
