George I Burr-walnut and Inlaid Chest of Drawers

Description

Circa 1720. A George I burr walnut, elm and inlaid chest of drawers. The top with various burr elm panels intersected by a walnut banding with herringbone string and banding. The front with a configuration of two short over three further graduating drawers, each of the drawers with similar pattern to the top, with stylish cast and engraved brass escutcheons, pear drop handles with flower head backplates. The beading between the drawers is half round and solid, the gables with a diamond pattern in burr wood, beneath the bottom drawer there is further moulding and the piece rests on four stout bracket feet.
