Chinese Wine Table
A chinese wine table brings compact Asian form into a room, offering a small surface designed for display or intimate service.
Chinese Wine Table
A chinese wine table appears in several distinct guises across our selection, taking the shape of small side tables, occasional tables, and low stands. Buyers seeking this form often encounter elm side tables alongside carved hardwood tripod tables topped with marble.
The periods represented span from the eighteenth century through the Victorian era and into the early twentieth century, encompassing Chinese provincial, export, and vernacular styles. Occasional pieces also reflect European interpretations such as Chinese Chippendale and English ebonised work.
Distinctions in Quality
Quality diverges between utilitarian provincial items and pieces made with finer rosewood or intricate carving. Heavier hardwoods and well-fitted marble inserts elevate an example above simpler softwood constructions.
The crispness of the carved detail and the integrity of the lacquer finish indicate the level of craftsmanship invested in the object. Finer proportions and stable tripod structures separate superior tables from ordinary ones.
