Description

Size: 6ft 7in x 4ft 7in (200 x 140cm).

Antique Persian Sarouk rug of classic small medallion design, with floral sprays on an terracotta red ground.

Circa 1900.

This is a classic example of a Sarouk rug, well drawn with good colour. The deep indigo blue medallion stands out well on the soft red ground. The field is filled with floral sprays. The border design is very detailed and is in soft golds and greens.

Full pile with very slight wear, very fine soft lambs wool.

Hand washed and ready for use or display. A superb rug that would grace any room.

This traditional Persian area rug is made from wool and cotton, dating from circa 1900. The hand-knotted textile displays a terracotta red field set with intricate floral palmettes, a navy central medallion, detailed corner spandrels, and a multi-band border in tones of soft gold, green, and cream.
