This nineteenth century Art Nouveau vase takes the form of a French chateau bronze object by Charles Korschann Paris, displaying a gilt patination over its oval shape. The piece depicts a sculpted female nude figure leaning over the rim with her head tilted back, complemented by raised silvered bronze floral relief details along the body. Raised silvered flower petals and a flower bud decorate the front panels, alongside an inscribed signature for Korschann Paris near the base. Visible signs of age include surface patination wear, minor blemishes, and dark oxidation spots across the gold surface. It stands 17 cm high, 8.3 cm wide, and 8 cm deep. Positioned on a mantelpiece, this decorative vase functions as an ornamental display item within a home interior. The tactile qualities of the gilt bronze body and the silvered floral details offer a distinct visual focal point on a flat surface. The standing sculpture accommodates interior styling schemes that draw on historic French decorative arts. Owners can place the piece securely on a stable wooden surface, ledge, or display shelf to showcase the figural top and relief carvings from various viewing angles.

Art Nouveau metalwork emerged during the late nineteenth century and is defined by sinuous lines, organic forms inspired by nature, and integrated human or floral motifs. Craftsmen utilised bronze casting to create fluid, sculptural designs where decorative elements form an integral part of the structure.

These pieces were typically cast using the lost-wax (cire perdue) or sand casting method from molten bronze alloy. The surface was then chased by hand to refine details and finished with patination, gilding, or silvering to accentuate depth and relief.

Authentic items feature cast or incised maker signatures, foundry marks, or city designations such as Paris stamped directly into the bronze. Original pieces display subtle wear to the gilded or patinated surface, precise cold-chiseling details, and weight consistent with solid cast metal.

Displaying a sculptural bronze vase on a fireplace mantelpiece, marble sideboard, or minimalist shelving unit creates a focal point. Combining metallic textures with muted backdrops highlights the sculpted silhouette and metallic finish without overcrowding the space.

Dust gilt bronze regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a gentle artist brush to clear recessed areas. Avoid abrasive cleaners, water, or polish, as these substances strip historical gilding, patination, and protective wax coatings.
