Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Persian Lilihan carpet dates from 1920 and follows a traditional Persian and Oriental style. The wool and cotton construction presents a terracotta pink field decorated with blue floral motifs, arabesque vines, rosette borders, and weeping willow motifs, all framed by a dark navy ornate border with fringed ends at the top and bottom. The pile is full all over with no repairs, showing soft coral tones alongside the darker border details. Measuring 361 cm high, 278 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, the piece works well in an English Country House interior setting, placed on the floor of a living room, dining room, or bedroom to anchor the space.

FAQs

Originating from the Lilihan village in the Arak region of Iran, these carpets were historically woven by Armenian artisans and are distinguished by their salmon-pink or terracotta fields, heavy wool pile, and stylized floral motifs.

Traditional Lilihan carpets feature hand-spun wool pile hand-knotted onto a sturdy cotton warp and weft foundation, utilizing natural plant and mineral dyes.

Authentic pieces feature a distinct rose-pink or terracotta field derived from madder dye, a thick single-weft weave structure, curved floral vine scrolls, and a navy or dark blue main border.

Position the carpet under modern neutral seating to anchor the floor plan, allowing the deep terracotta field and rich navy borders to introduce warmth and graphic pattern to the room.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating beat bar, rotate the carpet annually to balance foot traffic wear, and address spills immediately with clean cold water and mild detergent.
