Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE 1910s:
Fine complementary weft-weave patterning: skilled hand-loom work on a narrow tribal loom.
Dark goat-hair selvedges overbound with wool: traditional edge reinforcement against nomadic wear.
Small coloured pile tufts spaced along the edges: traditional decorative tribal finishing.
Gentle colour variation across the ground bands: wool dyed in small separate batches.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

A baladan is a traditional handwoven storage pouch crafted by nomadic Qashqai tribes in the Fars Province of South-West Persia, designed specifically to store and transport wooden spoons and kitchen utensils.

These items are handwoven using hand-spun wool coloured with natural vegetable dyes. They often feature flatweave or sumakh techniques combined with sturdy selvedges and small woollen tassels.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-spun wool yarn, subtle colour variations known as abrash, specific geometric motifs native to the Fars region, and traditional hand-bound side seams.

Small tribal weavings are frequently mounted inside custom shadow-box frames for wall display, set on bookshelf ledges, or laid flat on sideboards to add rich historical texture to a room.

Keep the textile away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, vacuum gently using a low-suction nozzle without a rotating brush, and consult a professional textile conservator for washing.
