We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mahal rugs originate from the Arak region of Iran, formerly Persia, and are recognised by their structured floral lattice or repeating geometric patterns. They were historically produced for both regional use and international export throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

These carpets are hand-knotted using spun wool for the soft pile, woven securely onto a durable cotton warp and weft structure. Natural plant and mineral dyes were traditionally used to create the dark blues, terracottas, and creams.

Authentic hand-knotted carpets feature slight irregularities in symmetry and knot tension visible on the underside. Furthermore, the fringe end forms a direct continuation of the foundation warp threads rather than a separate stitched addition.

A classic patterned rug can be placed beneath neutral modern furniture to provide visual grounding and colour structure. Laying the textile over plain wooden floors or natural sisal carpet creates depth through contrast and texture.

Regular vacuuming using suction only helps prevent grit from settling into the wool pile base. Professional specialist rug cleaning and periodic rotation are advised to manage natural wear and prevent uneven sunlight exposure.
