Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large hand-woven Persian runner rug dates from the early twentieth century and reflects a traditional tribal style. Constructed from wool and cotton, the textile displays deep natural terracotta red, cream, and mustard tones, complemented by dark red, pink, and yellow hues within the intricate weave. The surface features a sequence of geometric medallions, along with numerous stylised animal and bird motifs set against a rich field. The wide cream border contains repeating avian patterns and floral elements, and both ends are finished with white fringing. General usage wear is visible across the pile, while the tight hand weave remains evident. Measuring 275 cm high, 74 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, this long and narrow textile is suited for placement in a hallway, corridor, or passage within a home. The piece adds traditional character and warmth to interior spaces.

FAQs

Persian runner rugs originated in regional weaving centres and nomadic communities across Persia, designed specifically to cover long, narrow corridors and passage spaces in traditional homes.

These rugs are typically hand-knotted or hand-woven using natural wool pile spun onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation, coloured with plant-based or organic dyes.

Authentic hand-woven rugs feature slight hand-made variations in knot density and design symmetry, visible structural knotting on the reverse side, and fringe edges integrated directly into the warp threads.

A long runner rug is effective when placed along central entry hallways, narrow corridors, or kitchen galleys to add colour and texture above hardwood or flagstone flooring.

Regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating beater bar removes surface dust, while periodic rotation prevents localized wear and professional specialist cleaning treats stubborn stains.
