Dresser Sideboard Wonderful Early Victorian Pine C1840

A wonderful and beautifully characterful early Victorian pine dresser, dating to circa 1840, displaying exceptional colour and patina, together with all the charm, simplicity and honest craftsmanship associated with traditional English country furniture.

Constructed in pine, the dresser has a particularly attractive top with a stepped thumb-moulded edge, a lovely decorative detail that gives the piece a pleasing sense of refinement while retaining its traditional farmhouse character.

The pine has developed a superb depth of colour and wonderfully rich, mellow patina, with warm honey and golden tones that beautifully highlight the natural grain and character of the timber. The beautifully aged surface gives the dresser tremendous warmth and presence, reflecting generations of use and careful ownership.

The drawers retain their original turned fruitwood handles, a particularly desirable feature that adds warmth and contrast to the pine. Traditionally constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints, the drawers reflect the quality and attention to detail of early Victorian cabinetmaking.

To the centre is a practical cupboard fitted with an internal shelf, providing useful storage and adding to the dresser's wonderfully balanced appearance.

Of particular note is the survival of the original backboards, an appealing feature that contributes to the authenticity and historic character of this charming piece of country furniture.

The combination of the exceptional colour, beautifully developed patina, original fittings and traditional construction makes this a particularly appealing example of early Victorian country furniture.

A wonderfully honest and decorative piece, offering practical storage alongside the timeless charm of a genuine English farmhouse dresser. Equally at home in a country kitchen, period cottage or contemporary interior.
