The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this Silver Half Hunter Pocket Watch to the 1890s.
This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.
The movement is signed with the name of the original retailer, Hardy & Sons of Sydney and Brisbane. Founded in Sydney in 1853 by John Hardy, Hardy Brothers is Australia's oldest continually operating fine jeweller and the only one to hold a Royal Warrant. Hardys would have imported the watch from the UK for retail.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is hallmarked for Birmingham 1894 with a maker’s mark for John Rotherham. The case is in good condition and has engine turned detail to both the front and back.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in lovely condition.
The dial is signed Hardy & Sons. Pale rose gold pin-set hands including the special half hunter hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed. There are three short faint hairlines but only one is visible to the naked eye, and not too detrimental.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
