Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This late eighteenth century Georgian dresser base combines painted oak timber with polished brass hardware in a traditional English country house style. The piece presents a rectangular top with a moulded edge above a three-drawer front fitted with ornate brass swan-neck drop handles. Below the drawers sits an elaborate pierced fretwork apron that connects the upper structure to the cabriole legs, creating an open and decorative lower profile. The entire wooden surface receives a muted grey painted finish that highlights the classic lines and carved details of the silhouette. Practical proportions make this unit measure 80 cm high, 153 cm wide, and 44 cm deep. Such a sideboard functions well within a dining room, hallway, or living space as a surface for displaying decorative items while offering concealed storage capacity inside the drawers.

FAQs

A Georgian cabriole leg dresser is an 18th-century style English storage piece featuring S-curved legs resting on pad feet, typically fitted with shallow drawers for dining room or hallway storage.

Traditional examples were constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or fruitwood, featuring mortise-and-tenon joinery, hand-dovetailed drawers, and cast brass drop handles.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-planed surfaces, irregular dovetail joints, original brass backplates, and natural wear or timber shrinkage across the top and frame.

A painted dresser functions effectively as a hallway console, dining room server, or drawing room sideboard, pairing easily with contemporary artwork, ceramic lamps, and table decor.

Clean the surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical sprays, apply a clear wax sparingly to unpainted timber elements, and keep clear of direct heat sources.
