This Victorian Rococo Revival sofa is fashioned from solid walnut with a beech underframe and brass castors. The dark brown wooden frame displays elaborate serpentine curves, a carved crest rail, scroll-carved arms, and cabriole legs terminating in castors. It is upholstered in a patterned olive green and dark brown damask fabric which shows noticeable wear, staining, and fraying on the seat, alongside visible age throughout. Measuring 92 cm high, 142 cm wide, and 81 cm deep, the settee arrives in a strong and sturdy structural condition awaiting reupholstery. In a contemporary home, this traditional piece sits well as an accent seat in a living room, drawing room, or hallway. The compact two-seater configuration accommodates domestic spaces while retaining period character. Homeowners can position the settee against a focal wall or within a seating arrangement, pairing it with complementary antique furnishings. Once the upholstery is refreshed, it provides comfortable occasional seating for family and visitors.

Popularised in the mid-nineteenth century, Rococo Revival furniture features ornate carving, serpentine frames, and elaborate scrollwork drawing inspiration from eighteenth-century French design.

Victorian settees typically utilised dense hardwoods such as walnut, rosewood, or mahogany for frames, paired with coil-sprung seating and upholstery materials like damask, velvet, or horsehair.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces feature hand-carved decorative motifs, original castors, hand-cut joinery, and natural wear patterns on exposed wooden surfaces.

A Victorian settee functions as a focal seating element in a living room, hallway, or bedroom, contrasting structured historical lines against minimalist backdrops.

Clean timber components using microfibre cloths and high-grade beeswax polish while vacuuming upholstery gently with a soft brush attachment to prevent dust accumulation.
