Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

An early 19th-century oak kitchen dresser typically consists of a two-part construction featuring a lower storage base of drawers and cupboards topped by an open shelving rack designed to display ceramics and tableware.

These dressers were constructed primarily from solid native oak, utilising hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon joinery, fielded panel doors, and solid timber backboards alongside cast brass hardware.

Authentic period dressers exhibit hand-planed surfaces, irregular dovetail joints, genuine age-related shrinkage in wider solid panels, original brass hardware with aged patination, and secondary timbers like pine or poplar used for drawer linings.

An antique oak dresser can be integrated into contemporary dining rooms or kitchens by contrasting its warm wood tones against neutral plaster walls and curation of modern ceramics or glassware on the open shelving.

Maintain antique oak by regularly dusting with a soft cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding modern aerosol cleaners and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources.
