Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This oversized antique Khorasan carpet originates from North East Persia and dates from 1880, created in the Persian Khorasan style using wool and cotton materials. The colour palette includes cream, blue, and terracotta, showcasing a pale, abrashed ivory-blue field alongside an ivory border. Visible design elements include floral palmettes, arabesque vines, central medallion elements, and a multi-tiered border, with an even low pile, traces of wear, and secured ends and sides. Measuring 495 cm high, 380 cm wide, and 0.5 cm deep, this large floor covering suits spacious settings in an English Country House interior. It works well laid out across a generous living room, a grand drawing room, or a formal dining space to anchor large furniture arrangements with its classic aesthetic.

FAQs

Khorasan carpets originate from the northeastern region of Iran, renowned for producing hand-knotted textiles featuring soft wool, detailed botanical patterns, and intricate multi-bordered frames.

These carpets are crafted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton warp and weft foundation, predominantly using asymmetrical knots.

Authentic Khorasan carpets feature a soft, flexible handle, natural vegetable-dyed yarns displaying subtle colour variations known as abrash, and elaborate floral or arabesque motifs.

An oversize carpet grounds a large living room or dining hall by anchoring key furniture pieces, providing structural balance and tonal depth to neutral interior schemes.

Vacuum gently without a rotating brush bar, rotate the carpet annually to balance wear from foot traffic and light exposure, and address spills immediately with cold water and neutral absorbent cloths.
