Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Art Deco chest of drawers from 1930 displays a warm brown palette with rich book-matched burr walnut grain patterns across its five stacked horizontal drawers. The piece incorporates streamlined rounded shoulders, finely moulded edges, stepped bracket feet, and dual-tone metal and Bakelite handles arranged vertically on each drawer front. It stands 122 cm high, 80 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, providing substantial interior storage. In a modern home interior, this chest of drawers suits a bedroom or dressing room setting for organising clothing and accessories. The compact footprint and vertical orientation make it practical for placement against a wall in rooms with limited floor space while offering surface space on top for lamps or decorative items.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is defined by geometric shapes, streamlined contours, book-matched timber veneers, and polished metal hardware.

Art Deco cabinets commonly utilise rich timber veneers such as burr walnut, mahogany, and macassar ebony, often applied over solid frames with handles crafted from chrome, brass, or Bakelite.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints inside the drawers, symmetrical book-matched veneer pattern placement, smooth rounded upper shoulders, and original metal hardware.

A period chest of drawers functions well as a focal piece in contemporary bedrooms or hallways, contrasting modern minimalist decor with rich timber figure and structured lines.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry microfiber cloth, avoid placing timber near direct heat sources or damp environments, and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish.
