This tall chest of drawers dates from the 1930s Art Deco period and is made in England. The piece is constructed from rich brown walnut and wood veneer, finished with a smooth polished surface. Distinctive design details include book-matched figured walnut grain patterns, narrow vertical wooden handle pulls mounted on the drawer fronts, and a solid plinth base at the bottom. Horizontal light-coloured contrast banding separates the drawer tiers, adding clean linear definition to the front elevation. The structure stands 135 cm high, 82 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. Inside, the generous arrangement of drawers provides practical storage for clothing or linens. The upright proportions and strong geometric lines make this an ideal storage item for a bedroom, dressing area, or hallway in a modern home. The warm timber tones and symmetrical wood grain patterns bring classic mid-century character and sophisticated style to any contemporary interior space.

Art Deco furniture from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by geometric forms, clean lines, and the decorative use of rich wood veneers. Walnut was widely utilised during this era for its distinct grain patterns and depth of colour.

Chests from this era typically feature hardwood framing overlaid with figured or burr walnut veneers, often applied in book-matched configurations. Drawer boxes are constructed using traditional dovetail joints with solid timber linings.

Authentic pieces display period construction techniques, including hand-cut or early machine dovetails, integrated wooden or Bakelite pulls, and symmetrical veneer layouts. The finish typically exhibits natural age-related patination and muted sheen rather than high-gloss modern lacquers.

A walnut chest of drawers can be placed against a neutral backdrop to emphasize its wood grain, or paired with contemporary brass lighting and geometric textiles. Its vertical proportions allow it to maximize storage in compact modern bedrooms.

Dust the exterior regularly using a dry, soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to protect the veneer. Position the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying, cracking, or discoloration.
