Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often moved away from heavy Victorian ornamentation towards lighter, simpler designs inspired by earlier periods like the Sheraton and Chippendale styles, alongside the functional ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Cabinet makers predominantly used native timbers such as oak, walnut, and mahogany, often incorporating quarter-sawn oak to showcase prominent medullary rays. Construction typically featured traditional dovetail joints for drawers, solid backboards, and hand-turned wooden knobs.

Authenticity is verified by inspecting internal construction details, such as hand-cut dovetailing, tool marks, timber shrinkage, and appropriate oxidation on secondary woods. Makers marks, stamps, or paper labels from retailers like Heal and Son also provide reliable identification.

An antique wooden chest introduces texture and historical contrast into contemporary spaces. It can be paired with minimalist decor, neutral backdrops, and modern lighting to allow the natural grain and craftsmanship to serve as a focal point.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber splitting. Regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth and occasional application of traditional beeswax helps nourish and protect the finish.
